Orthodontics

What is orthodontics?
Orthodontic treatment is used to identify and correct issues with teeth alignment or bite. If left untreated, these problems lead not only to an undesirable appearance, but can cause serious problems with eating and speech in later life.

Why choose orthodontic treatment?
If you are diagnosed with an orthodontic problem, then this is classed as a malocclusion. The list of irregularities that orthodontics can be used to treat is varied:

• crowded, misaligned or crooked teeth
• gaps that are present due to missing teeth can be closed or the surround teeth can be manipulated to fill the space
• overcrowding
• an overbite
• an underbite
• a jaw that is misaligned and causing bite problems

Can I have braces as an adult?
Yes, of course!
Contemporary society can put pressure on a person to look a certain way, not only teenagers, but adults as well. Therefore, it is unsurprising that adult orthodontics is a massive industry. It is also easier now than it has ever been with revolutionary treatments that can shorten the length of treatment, the discomfort associated with it and even eliminate the unsightly metal braces that can put people off.

Case Study
This patient, a male in his twenties, had crooked, overcrowded teeth and an incorrect bite. To achieve this result a combination of both Inman Aligner and Clear Aligners were worn for 12 months.

To improve the shade of his teeth the patient also had a course of home whitening using Philips Zoom Day White.
